Jesus told His disciples two sobering things before His crucifixion. He said, “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you,” and, “If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you” (John 15:18; 20).
The Bible also says in 1 Corinthians 1:18, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing.”
I appreciate these truths because they help us form realistic expectations when sharing our faith by preparing us for the negative responses that often result. They also assist us in fighting off discouragement when we are rejected by reminding us it is not personal.
Do you shy away from presenting the gospel because you fear rejection? Have hostile responses from others in the past kept you from sharing your faith in the present? If so, I would love to encourage and pray for you. Comment below.
