Many of us have a deep passion for Jesus and the truths of His Word. But we often struggle to defend the truth in the face of false doctrine.
Here are a few simple steps to help prepare you for those encounters:
Become familiar with the Bible. It might sound oversimplistic or underwhelming. But one of the greatest defenses against false doctrine is God’s Word. Knowing and understanding what the Bible teaches about Jesus, salvation, sin, the Trinity, the resurrection, heaven, hell, and other essential topics will help you recognize and refute falsehood when you are confronted with it.
Utilize online resources. Many websites have dedicated themselves to helping believers contend for the faith and refute false doctrine. Acquainting yourself with their biblically-based resources and information will better equip you to defend essential doctrines or refute falsehood. (I have listed some of these ministries and websites at the bottom of this email.)
Access apologetics books. Many books contain essential information on biblical doctrines and address common objections to the gospel. Investing in a few valuable resource books will help equip you to share the truth with others. (A list of suggested books is at the bottom of this email.)
Preparing to refute false doctrine or adequately explain the gospel starts with knowing the truth. Do you feel ready and equipped?
