What should I avoid when sharing the gospel?

Whether you are contending for or defending your Christian faith or sharing the gospel, there are three things you should always avoid to help keep your conversation as productive as possible. They are as follows:

  • Do not come across as arrogant or condescending. Nothing about Jesus is demeaning, condemning, or arrogant, and you are always representing Him when in those situations.

  • Do not become defensive. Nobody will listen to what you say if you are argumentative, intolerant, or defensive in your attitude, demeanor, or words.

  • Do not insult the other person’s beliefs. Regardless of their philosophies or beliefs, share the truth in a spirit of love to help break through the spiritual blindness and deception plaguing them.

I hope these three tips help you remain focused on the task at hand while sharing the gospel or contending for the Christian faith.

P.S. What are some things you avoid when sharing your faith or contending for the truth? I would love to hear about them in the comments.
