Evil is not created matter like mountains, planets, and trees. It is a departure from God’s perfect holiness and will. Much like darkness is the absence of light, evil is the absence of righteousness.
God created the heavens, earth, and everything in them, and it was good (Genesis 1:1-31). However, when angels, Adam, and Eve disobeyed God to carry out their own desires, sin entered the equation. This deviation from righteousness resulted in evil, which has been perpetuated by human beings ever since.
